Poles have lost confidence in Szymon Hołownia. Who do they trust? New poll
Hołownia, which had a trust rating of 54.4% in January 2024, is trusted by only 18.5% of respondents in the July IBRiS trust ranking, recording a month-on-month decline of 9 percentage points. In terms of trust, Hołownia achieved its worst result since being included in the IBRiS ranking for Onet (it debuted in December 2019, when it was trusted by 20.2% of respondents).
Szymon Hołownia loses trust, Poland 2050 below the electoral thresholdThe decline in trust in Hołownia coincides with the controversial meeting between the Speaker of the Sejm and Jarosław Kaczyński at the private apartment of PiS MEP Adam Bielan, and with Hołownia's statement in an interview with Polsat News that he had been encouraged to take actions that amounted to a coup d'état in connection with Karol Nawrocki's swearing-in as president, scheduled for August 6. In this latter case, Hołownia is expected to be questioned by the prosecutor's office – the Speaker of the Sejm did not reveal who encouraged him to carry out the coup, although the mere preparation for such an attack is a crime under the Penal Code.
The declining trust in Hołownia coincides with Poland 2050's low poll ratings. In the latest IBRiS survey for "Rzeczpospolita," Hołownia's party receives 2.8% of the vote, which would put it outside the Sejm.
