The British are taking on Apple and Google. The giant warns London.

As reported by Reuters, the Competition and Markets Authority said on Wednesday it proposes to grant them so-called Strategic Market Status – paving the way for regulations aimed at reducing potential market bottlenecks, including their mobile operating systems, app stores and mobile web browsers.
"Apple and Google's mobile platforms are crucial to the UK economy – they play a vital role in our lives , from banking and shopping to entertainment and education," said Sarah Cardell, Director General of the CMA. "However, our investigation so far has identified opportunities to increase innovation and choice."
Big Techs Comment on British Government's MovesGoogle called the UK's decision "disappointing and unjustified" in a blog post, while Apple warned that the regulator's approach undermines privacy and security .
The plan is the latest in a series of potential problems for Silicon Valley companies stemming from the UK's antitrust watchdog. Last week, Amazon and Microsoft were asked to make changes to their businesses to weaken their grip on the cloud services market. A month ago, the investigation into Google's online search and advertising businesses intensified.
Under digital marketplace regulations that came into force this year, the CMA could eventually impose conduct requirements on companies, including making it easier for users to download apps and pay for content outside of Apple and Google platforms . The regulator could also impose hefty fines and impose stringent remedies to boost competition.
The CMA will consult before making a decision on the appointment, expected by 22 October.
Google is a near-monopoly in searches in the UKOne of the planned changes is the introduction of mechanisms that will give publishers greater control over the use of their content in artificial intelligence systems. Furthermore, the world's largest search engine may be forced to disclose how its algorithms work.
In January this year, some provisions of the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act came into force, aimed at contributing to the creation of a new order in the digital market.
Google remains the undisputed market leader in the UK, handling over 90% of internet queries.
