"Małysz is acting up because he's jealous." Stoch's first coach is harsh about the situation in Polish ski jumping

Dariusz Ostafiński, Polsat Sport: Kamil Stoch will not take part in the World Championships.
Krzysztof Sobański, first coach of Kamil Stoch: And you probably want to know what I think about it?
Yes.
I am outraged that the most decorated Polish ski jumper is being treated this way. And I am not surprised that the president Adam Małysz is the one who is getting the most flak for it. There have been some voices saying that he was a great player, but he is not fit to be the president. I will not sign under that, but president Małysz has something to think about. Because if you do not respect a player like Stoch, then something is very wrong.
Before the call-ups were announced, I spoke with PZN board member Rafał Kot, who said directly that the coach could have called up six players.
Of course, it could have been done that way. Kamil Stoch would have gone with the group and if it turned out that he was behind, then he could have been thanked. I am surprised that they allowed the Austrian to decide about our money and our line-up.
Coach Thomas Thurnbichler said he wants to take the pressure off, which is why he takes five.
He could take one.
All in all, it wouldn't be a great loss, because only Paweł Wąsek guarantees something.
If the circulation doesn't change, even Wąsek may have problems. There, on the hill where the championships will be held, the wind is blowing from behind, and our guys are jumping poorly in these conditions. Wąsek is the only one who can manage, but that won't help him.
Let's get back to pressure.
I find such talk funny. It's the coach himself who spoils the atmosphere in the team and creates pressure, because until the decision was announced there was a permanent rivalry for the line-up. And the best thing is that in the end it turned out that those last appearances didn't matter, because the line-up had been decided earlier. Do you know why Wąsek went to Japan in the first place?
You probably know.
I don't know, but I suspect that it was just to prove that he's better than Kamil Stoch. In my opinion, Japan was a chance only for Maciej Kot, but he jumped badly, especially in the second competition and hurt himself. However, he's good in the Continental Cup, so at least that's it.
In your opinion, some strange game is being played around Stoch.
I'm just saying that Japan wasn't a chance for him, and our best player at the moment went just so that the coach could have an alibi for not taking Stoch to the championships. And apart from that, it's strange around the whole team. The players don't know what's going to happen until the last moment. There's no peace, so they stop enjoying ski jumping. Only Wąsek is different.
Let's stick with Stoch. Do you think his problem is that he started working with another coach?
Certainly. Thurnbichler doesn't like Doleżal. But that's already happened and Małysz should be able to solve it. I remember what a row there was with Kruczek and Małysz when the latter wanted an individual coach. I was on that committee, where I suggested that they leave, work out a position and come back. And that's what happened. And it paid off, because Małysz got a coach and a full team, and the result was a medal at the Olympics. It paid off. And now the same Małysz is spinning his wheels and can't take a good position in an identical situation. In my opinion, he's jealous of Kamil and his successes. Maybe I'm wrong, but that's how it looks to me.
And please tell me, what do you think about Kubacki's appointment? The results there are just as bad as with Stoch. In principle, Stoch could have gone for Kubacki and nothing would have happened.
Kubacki has much greater potential than the others. If he gets the technique, he will be the best. If a miracle were to happen in Norway, I think it would only be because of someone from the Wąsek-Kubacki duo. If Dawid can handle the approach and the rebound, he will score.
What should Stoch do after the recent decision not to call up for the championship?
I don't know what he should do, because I know what he will do. He wants to jump in the games regardless of Thurnbichler and his decisions. I remember the period when Kuttin worked. He came to us because he wanted to get back at Małysz, and he was destroying others. He once told Kamil to drink one and a half liters of water before jumping. It was sick. However, Stoch outlived Kuttin, so he'll also be able to handle Thurnbichler.
