A beautiful gesture from the Portuguese club. Diogo Jota and Andre Silva commemorated

Gondomar SC has commemorated Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva, who died in a car accident on July 3, on their jerseys. Both grew up in a town on the outskirts of Porto and were former youth players of the club, which currently plays in Portugal's fourth division.

The front of the Gondomar SC jerseys feature images of Jota and his brother. They are featured on all kits (home, away, and third). At the top of the back, the names of both players appear beneath an infinity symbol.

"It's more than a jersey, it's an eternal tribute. Because football is more than just victories and goals. It's heritage, family, and love for our homeland," Gondomar SC, a club playing in the fourth tier of the Campeonato de Portugal, wrote on social media.

"Our new jersey features the magnificent image of Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva, two sons of Gondomar who left us too soon, but who will live forever in the history of our club and Portuguese football. Every time our players put on this jersey, we feel as if Diogo and Andre were stepping onto the pitch with them," explained the Gondomar SC Instagram account.

After leaving Gondomar SC, Diogo Jota played for Pacos Ferreira, Atletico Madrid, FC Porto, Wolverhampton Wanderers, and Liverpool. He made 49 appearances for the Portuguese national team, scoring 14 goals. Andre Silva, meanwhile, played for Gondomar until 2023 and spent the last two seasons with second-division side FC Penafiel.

Liverpool announced in July that the Reds would wear the "Forever 20" badge on their shirts and jackets this season. Jota's number 20 will be retired across all Liverpool teams, including the women's and youth teams. The number 20 shirt bearing Jota's name has also been withdrawn from sale.
