Basketball: The End of King's Medal Dreams

Basketball: The End of King's Medal Dreams

King's adventure in this year's play-offs ended in the fourth quarter-final match. The Polish champions from two years ago and last year's runner-up ended the 2024/2025 season in disastrous style.

King Szczecin - Trefl Sopot 68:94 (17:32, 21:15, 16:20, 14:27)

King: Jovan Novak 21, Isaiah Whitehead 13, Aleksander Dziewa 10, James Woodard 8, Tony Meier 7, Przemyslaw Zolnierewicz 7, Marcus Lee 2, Adam Brenk 0, Mateusz Kostrzewski 0.

Trefl: Nick Johnson 21 (10 rebounds), Keondre Kennedy 19, Aaron Best 11, Darious Moten 11, Marcus Weathers 9, Nahiem Alleyne 7, Geoffrey Groselle 6, Jakub Schenk 6, Mikolaj Witliński 4, Jarosław Zyskowski 0.

The quarter-final series of the Trefl-King pair was dictated by the Polish champions from the very first match. The Sopot team had a slip-up on Monday in Szczecin, but in Wednesday's match at Netto Arena they controlled the course of the match almost from the very first minutes.

After even actions, Trefl quickly took the initiative. Thanks to hits by Best and Weathers, the difference increased to 11 points, and then even to 17 points. King started the second quarter with a series of... 17:0! Thanks to Novak's next throws, he even took the lead. The Sopot team quickly shook off the lethargy and built the advantage again. Johnson was an important player, and Moten also contributed a lot. The first half ended with the score 38:47.

After the break, coach Arkadiusz Miłoszewski's team tried to reduce the deficit again. Thanks to Novak's next plays, they came within five points, but their opponents did not allow more. Kennedy, Schenk and Johnson led their team to a 13-point lead, only to finish off the Szczecin team in the next one. In the end, Trefl definitely dominated and crushed King to say goodbye to the quarterfinals 94:68. (voivodeship)

Too bad. Some of the players didn't care, they were probably more interested in a vacation.
