He couldn't stand Donald Trump's decision on Ukraine. That's what he called him
"This decision was made to put America's interests first after a DOD review of our country's military support and assistance to other countries around the world. The strength of the United States Armed Forces remains unquestioned — just ask Iran," White House deputy spokeswoman Anna Kelly said in a statement released to reporters.
This is a comment on earlier reports by Politico that the Pentagon has decided to suspend deliveries of some types of missiles to Ukraine due to low levels of stockpiles in its arsenal.
According to PBS, the missiles subject to suspension include PAC-3 missiles for Patriot systems, 155 mm artillery shells (according to Politico these are guided missiles), GMRLS missiles for HIMARS rocket artillery systems, and AIM-7 missiles used in NASAMS air defense systems and F-16 fighters.
The decision to withhold some aid — still provided under the package approved by President Joe Biden — was reportedly made by Elbridge Colby, the deputy head of the Pentagon, who is known for opposing aid to Ukraine. In a statement, Colby did not deny the reports, but noted that the Pentagon "continues to provide the President with solid options to continue military aid to Ukraine, consistent with his goal of ending this tragic war." The move outraged Dominik Hasek.
"The United States has decided not to send Ukraine any more important weapons for its air defense. In any case, this means significantly more Ukrainians killed, including children. In the coming months, Ukraine and its people will have to fight even more heroically and with greater losses to defend themselves against imperialist and terrorist Russia, headed by the greatest criminal in the world today, Putin. The criminal Putin, whom the American President Donald Trump helps every day and legitimizes his terrible crimes," thunders Hasek, 60, who has spent half of his life in the United States.
Democrats do not support cutting off Ukraine from supportAccording to Politico's sources, Pentagon officials had already prepared plans in March to halt deliveries of some of the ammunition, which would have been redirected to the U.S. or Israel.
The decision was condemned by Democrats in Congress. Senate Foreign Relations Committee Deputy Chair Jeanne Shaheen said in a statement that the Pentagon was weakening Ukraine's defenses "at a time when Russia is bombing Ukrainian cities and killing civilians night after night."
“President Trump promised just last week that he would seek additional air defense systems for Ukraine, but Secretary Hegseth and Undersecretary Colby appear to be ignoring him,” Shaheen wrote, referring to Trump’s remarks at the NATO summit when he told a Ukrainian journalist that he would “see” whether he could provide Ukraine with additional Patriots.
“The Trump administration’s mixed signals undermine its own plan to bring Putin to the negotiating table, and this move under Secretary Hegseth’s leadership will only make it harder to achieve a just and lasting peace,” the senator said.
