Iga Świątek broke her silence. Expressive words about her relationship with Daria Abramowicz

Iga Świątek broke her silence. Expressive words about her relationship with Daria Abramowicz

The lack of more spectacular successes, to which Iga Świątek has accustomed fans in recent years, is a hot topic related to the Polish tennis player. The WTA vice-ranking has been waiting for a tournament victory and lifting the cup for almost a year. The last time it happened was in the Grand Slam edition, on the Roland Garros courts in Paris.

Iga Świątek counters criticism. She raised the issue of Daria Abramowicz, among others

Although there are no tournament final triumphs, the Pole is still among the world's top . Recently, Świątek reached the semi-finals of the WTA 1000 tournament in Madrid. Ultimately, the American Coco Gauff proved to be better than the Pole. In the final in the capital of Spain, Aryna Sabalenka triumphed.

In the case of the Polish player's defeats, the topic of mental issues often comes up. Psychologist Daria Abramowicz is responsible for these in the Świątek team. How does the person concerned assess her relationship with this person?

– Daria is my constant support, someone I trust. I trust the whole team and I want people around me to know that. This is my team, I decide who is in it. The recent media smear campaign does not give me any free space for peaceful work. Quite the opposite – it creates additional, unnecessary pressure. I am aware that it is difficult to understand the mental aspect, in which variables cannot be assessed using statistics and numbers. Especially at a time when I am not achieving fully satisfactory results on the court. Besides, I am not a person who wants to talk about everything. The work I do in the mental area should be separated from what is happening in the media. It seems to me that all this contributed to the fact that people do not fully understand what is happening inside the team, how it works, how we work and come up with false theories. And we really are a team – admitted Świątek in an interview for Wirtualna Polska and SportoweFakty.

The nearest opportunity to see the Polish champion on the court will be the competition in the capital of Italy. The Pole will play on clay courts during the WTA 1000 in Rome. This will be one of the last tests before the upcoming Grand Slam challenge in Paris. It is there that Świątek has felt the best in sports for years.
