Iga Świątek met her fate in Paris. These will be very interesting "Polish" matches

It is no secret that the biggest star on the women's side of the tournament , at least in recent years, is Iga Świątek. The Pole appeared during Thursday's draw, among others, in the company of Paris Saint-Germain player Ousmane Dembele. The Parisians are having a great season. In France, they were unrivaled in the Ligue 1 competition, and on top of that, they advanced to the final of the elite UEFA Champions League.

Difficult draw for Iga Świątek. Hubert Hurkacz was also unlucky

How exactly do the tournament pairs that made it to the RG 2025 ladder look like? Due to her drop to 5th place in the WTA ranking, Świątek will have to reckon with a much more demanding path on her way to the final. The defending champion's first rival will be Rebecca Sramkova. The Slovak, who lost to... Magda Linette during the tournament in Strasbourg a few days ago. The Poznań player's opponent will be the Dane Clara Tauson, one of the more interesting young tennis players on the WTA tour.

A difficult draw for Magdalena Fręch. The Łódź player was greeted by a top-tier opponent, judging by her experience and not-so-distant ranking past. The Pole will play with Ons Jabeur. The 30-year-old Tunisian is, among others, a two-time Wimbledon finalist (2022 and 2023) and the US Open (2022).

Linda Klimovicova must also be added to this group. The Czech with Polish citizenship is doing great in the RG 2025 qualifications and has only one step left to advance to the main tournament. On Friday (i.e. May 23), she will play Leyre Romero Gormaz, starting at 11:00.

In the case of the bracket, it should also be noted that if Świątek, mentioned at the beginning, wins against lower-ranked opponents, the Pole may face Aryna Sabalenka in the semifinals. A premature final? Perhaps.

On the men's side, from the Polish perspective, there will also be some interesting news. Kamil Majchrzak will play with Hamad Medjedovic. The Serb is within reach of the Polish tennis player. Experts are, however, keen to see Hubert Hurkacz face off. The Wrocław player has a great match against Joao Fonseca. A Brazilian who is admired by the whole world – due to his talent. However, "Hubi" has been playing solidly recently, so a really good, exciting match could be in the making, already at the opening of the Grand Slam competition.
