Iga Świątek thumbed her nose at the haters. Just look at it.

Iga Świątek thumbed her nose at the haters. Just look at it.

Before this year's Wimbledon began, one might have wondered if Iga Świątek would be able to break the spell of grass courts by achieving success in London. Wim Fissette is a coach whose players have charmed Wimbledon players in the past. As Świątek's result shows, the Belgian has also found the solution for the Polish player.

Iga Świątek goes head-to-head with Aryna Sabalenka. Incredible stats

The Polish player's advancement to the Wimbledon semifinals marks another historic achievement. On the one hand, it seems Świątek might even be able to attack for the final victory on the London courts. On the other, just reaching the top four of the legendary tournament is a truly remarkable achievement . At only 24 years old, the Polish player's farthest run in her career at this event (the 2023 edition) is the quarterfinals.

Świątek has been repeatedly criticized for failing to win a single championship title in the ongoing 2025 season. Indeed, the Pole hoisted the trophy for the last time after winning the final at Roland Garros 2024. As for the final, that didn't happen until just before Wimbledon, at the WTA 500 in Bad Homburg, Germany. Ultimately, it was American Jessica Pegula who prevailed over the Pole in the title match.

However, Świątek's performance deserves recognition. In 2024, the Polish player reached three Grand Slam semifinals, a feat only Aryna Sabalenka, the current WTA number one, has achieved. The "OptaAce" account on the X portal rightly points out that this is an outstanding achievement for both players. The last time this happened was in 2006. Back then, the Belgian duo of Kim Clijsters and Justine Henin achieved a 3/3 record in Grand Slam semifinals. The former was introduced to the tennis world by... Fissette's coach.

Interestingly, Sabalenka and Świątek have failed to win a Grand Slam tournament this season. Madison Keys won the Australian Open in Melbourne. Coco Gauff, however, triumphed at Roland Garros in Paris. So, we have American dominance, with a 2/2 success rate. It's worth noting that the women's singles semifinals in London feature... another American tennis player, Amanda Anisimova.

Wimbledon: Iga Świątek vs. Belina Bencić. Where and when to watch?

Who will Poland's best singles player face on her way to the final on London's grass courts? Her opponent will be the experienced Swiss Belinda Bencić. The tennis player returned to competition on the WTA Tour after pregnancy. Bencić gave birth to her daughter, Bella, in April 2024. The Swiss player's best Grand Slam result to date was the semifinals of the US Open in 2019. As you can see, Bencić equaled that feat at Wimbledon 2025.

Tournament organizers announced the Thursday (July 10) schedule on Wednesday afternoon . The Iga Świątek vs. Belinda Bencić match will be the second match on the schedule. The first semifinal battle, Aryna Sabalenka vs. Amanda Anisimova, will begin earlier.

Chronologically, the Sabalenka-Anisimova match starts at 2:30 PM Polish time. Świątek and Bencic won't be on the court until 4:00 PM, and most likely around 4:30 PM.

Wimbledon matches are shown on Polsat Sport, starting with the main channels, such as Polsat Sport 1-3, through Polsat Sport Fight, and ending with additional channels, such as Polsat Sport Premium 1-6. For online streaming, it's worth checking out the Polsat Box Go platform, with the appropriate packages.

Additionally, it is important to note that the Świątek-Bencic match will also be broadcast on the open channel Polsat.
