Incredible! Nearly three hours of fighting and two points from the sensation in the match against the second-ranked player.

Coco Gauff, seeded number one in the Montreal tournament, defeated Danielle Collins 7-5, 4-6, 7-6(2) in the second round. Although the 21-year-old was considered the favorite, her ten-year-old opponent was determined to pull off a surprise. She came close, though she fell two points short.

After the first four games, the score was 2-2, but neither player could defend their serve. Gauff finally managed to do so in the fifth game of the first set. The final set was close to a tie-break, but the world's second-ranked player delivered a near-flawless finish, winning 7-5.

In the second set, Collins showed no less determination and turned the tables. Initially, it looked like a quick defeat, as she was down 3-1, but she played meticulously and won the next four games, taking the score to 5-3. Ultimately, the 61st-ranked player in the world prevailed 6-4.

Gauff led 4-2 in the final set, but Collins fought back to take a 6-5 lead. The 31-year-old was two points away from winning the match at 40-40 in the twelfth game, but Gauff proved her worth by forcing a tiebreak, which she won 7-2.

- I hope that my worst match of this tournament is behind me - said Coco Gauff after nearly three hours of battle on court.

Gauff made as many as 74 unforced errors.

- Maybe if I could reduce that number by half, the match would be faster for me - she emphasized.

In the third round of the WTA 1000 in Montreal, the tournament's number one will play against Wieronika Kudiermietowa, who defeated Olga Danilović 6-4, 6-2.
