It's time to meet the LNBA champion
The game in the Conference A final is played to two victories. The teams competing for the title are Patobasket and Mathematics. The first of the teams seemed to be the favorite before the decisive battle began. Although it only took second place in the regular season, it has much younger players in its lineup.
The leaders are Wojciech Matysek and Gerard Nawrocki. The first is a 25-year-old under-the-basket player who grew up in Lublin's Star. In this club, he even had a few dozen seconds of an episode at the highest level of the game in 2017. At that time, he had the opportunity to spend time on the court with players such as Mateusz Dziemba and James Washington. The 26-year-old Nawrocki also played in Star, although only at the second league level. He also played at the same level in Lublinianka, where he currently serves as a coach of youth groups.
Matematyka, on the other hand, is a team full of league veterans who have been playing amateur basketball for many years. However, the figure of Grzegorz Klarecki should attract the attention of fans. The 207 cm tall center was even a member of the Anwil Włocławek team in the past. It is also worth mentioning that Tomasz Celej also played a part in Matematyka reaching the final. This one of the most famous Lublin basketball players started the season in the LNBA, but later moved to professional basketball, where he represented Lublinianka.
The opening match of the final competition seemed to confirm the greater potential of Patobasket, which won 76:68. Matyska was particularly credited with this, scoring 16 points and collecting 18 rebounds. Nawrocki, in turn, added 17 points. However, in the next match, Matematyka was better, winning 67:65 after a miraculous play by Mieszko Ćwik at the end. The former point guard of the youth groups of Lublin AZS took a shot from a difficult position after an individual play. The ball bounced off the top of the backboard and fell into the basket. It is also worth mentioning another experienced basketball player - Bogdan Lembrych, who scored 18 points in this match.
The Saturday match will start at 5:30 p.m. The arena for the competition will be the sports hall of the 1st General Secondary School named after Stanisław Staszic in Lublin. Admission to the stands is free.
