The star is captured and will be thrown out of the USA! This is the result of Donald Trump's decision
The arrest comes just days after the former middleweight world champion lost a high-profile fight to influencer and boxer Jake Paul on Saturday in Anaheim, Calif. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said the decision to arrest Chavez was made on June 27 — the day before the fight — but it did not explain why officers made the arrest after the event.
Chavez, 39, was stopped by federal agents while riding a scooter in front of his home in Studio City, Los Angeles, said his attorney, Michael Goldstein.
The boxer's lawyer is outraged by the situation“These current allegations are outrageous and are just another attempt to scare the community with shocking headlines,” Goldstein said.
The lawyer said he did not know where his client had been taken Thursday morning, but said both were scheduled to appear in court Monday on previous gun possession charges. They were also expected to provide an update on Chavez's progress in a drug treatment program.
He has been in the US illegally for over a year and has serious legal problems in MexicoAccording to DHS, ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) officers detained Chavez for being in the U.S. after his tourist visa expired in February 2024. The boxer entered the country in August 2023. On December 17, 2023, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) reportedly warned ICE that Chavez “posed a serious threat to public safety,” but he was re-admitted to the U.S. on January 4 without a valid visa, the agency reported.
Federal officials said Chavez Jr. has an active arrest warrant in Mexico for engaging in criminal activity and illegally trafficking weapons, ammunition and explosives. He is linked to the Sinaloa drug cartel, authorities said.
The Mexican Attorney General's Office (FGR) confirmed that extradition proceedings have been initiated against "Julio C.", who has an arrest warrant issued in Mexico in March 2023 for activities in an organized crime group and arms smuggling. A federal agent who spoke anonymously to the Associated Press confirmed that he is Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.
Chavez's ProblemsChavez Jr., a former WBC middleweight champion, has struggled outside the ring for several years. Before his fight with Paul, he had only fought once since 2021. His career has been in the shadow of his father, Julio César Chavez, a legendary world champion considered one of the greatest boxers in Mexican history.
Julio Jr. has repeatedly failed drug tests, been suspended and criticized for flagrantly exceeding weight limits. Despite the controversy, he has achieved significant success, winning the WBC world title in 2011 and defending it three times. He has fought champions such as Canelo Álvarez and Sergio Martinez, losing to both.
After years of struggling with addiction, Chavez checked into a rehab center in Sinaloa. Before the fight with Paul, he insisted he was clean. His physical condition was the best it had been in years.
Dissatisfaction with Donald Trump's actionsIn an interview with the Los Angeles Times before Saturday's fight, Chavez said he and his coaches were concerned about the increasing immigration arrests in California:
"I don't understand this situation — why so much violence? There are many good people here, and you're setting a bad example for the community," Chavez said. "After everything that's happened, I don't want to be deported."
According to ESPN, the immigration situation in California is escalating. There are protests and federal officials have sent the National Guard and Marines to downtown Los Angeles.
