Who will advance to the final? Polish Champion without any concessions.
Just as participants in the senior Grand Prix series do not have to qualify for the IMP finals, the quartet: Wiktor Przyjemski (Motor Lublin), Kevin Małkiewicz and Jan Przanowski (both GKM Grudziądz) and Antoni Mencel (Unia Leszno) are guaranteed a place in the MIMP finals.
This is a significant handicap, as reaching the final tournament, scheduled for August 14th in Wrocław, will be extremely difficult. Only the top three teams from each qualifying tournament will advance. In Kraków and Ostrów Wielkopolski, fourth place will also receive an additional consolation prize of being a reserve in the final.
Last year's MIMP final in Krosno brought plenty of surprises. Jakub Krawczyk was crowned Polish Champion, and Bartosz Bańbor and Oskar Paluch were runners-up. Now, all three will have to battle it out through qualifying, as they were unable to make the Polish national team for the Youth World Championship qualifiers and were unable to advance to the SGP2.
Who is the favorite?Paluch and Krawczyk will compete in the same qualifying tournament in Ostrów Wielkopolski today. They can't afford a single slip-up, as losing points even in a single heat could cost them promotion. Especially since two riders from Włókniarz Częstochowa: Szymon Ludwiczak and Kacper Halkiewicz will undoubtedly be eyeing him. Also among the tournament favorites are Paweł Sitek and Gracjan Szostak from the local TŻ Ostrovia.
Bańbor, who will be playing in Kraków, should have an easier time. His Motor Lublin teammate Bartosz Jaworski, Franciszek Karczewski (Włókniarz Częstochowa), and Piotr Świercz (Wilki Krosno) should also be in contention for promotion. Radosław Kowalski (ROW Rybnik), who has been in excellent form in recent weeks, could spring a surprise.
In Gdańsk, Maksymilian Pawełczak, a sensational 16-year-old from Polonia Bydgoszcz and the current 250cc world champion, will be the favorite to win. Kacper Łobodziński (GKM Grudziądz) and Toruń riders Antoni Kawczyński and Krzysztof Lewandowski should also be in contention.
Things should be incredibly interesting in Gniezno. Damian Ratajczak (Falubaz Zielona Góra) is the clear favorite there, but Hubert Jabłoński (Stal Gorzów), Marcel Kowolik and Nikodem Mikołajczyk (Sparta Wrocław), and Kacper Mania (Unia Leszno) also have a good chance of finishing in the top three.
