The cheapest holiday destination in Europe. "Dinner for 5 euros, accommodation for 20"

Summer has begun in earnest, and you are holding back from going abroad for fear of high costs? Paying for flights or a hotel is one thing, but there are also the costs of food and attractions on site. Despite this, you can look for a good last minute offer, because the prices of such trips are currently falling . In the case of some countries, even a trip on your own will be budget-friendly. Polish tourists prove this. In their opinion, one place is particularly inexpensive.

The cheapest holiday destination in Europe

Overnight stay with a sea view for the whole family for 25 euros, dinner for 5 euros per person and coffee for less than 2 euros. These were the prices in a European resort in June this year. Assuming that not much has changed since then, it is safe to say that you can relax abroad for less than in Poland.

All this just 1400 km from Krakow, on the Ionian Sea in Albania. This is where a Polish couple went, sharing their story on a video posted on YouTube, on the channel "Orient Explorer".

The video shows, among other things, a cheap restaurant located right by the sea, as well as a tourist apartment - spacious, modernly furnished and comfortable - which cost the whole family about PLN 107 per day. There is also a kitchenette inside, so you can make breakfast or lunch yourself. Later, the couple proves that attractions are just as cheap, such as cars for children for 2 euros, kayaks for about 15 euros, jet skis for 20 euros per day. Entrance to the historic city of Butrint cost 10 euros.

Do you think that cheap food in Albania is of poor quality? The Poles went to a restaurant, ordering moussaka, stuffed peppers, beef with mashed potatoes, bread and two glasses of wine. They paid less than 25 euros for everything, which is about 100 PLN. The photos show that the dishes look very appetizing. The film also shows how much ordinary products cost in the store, such as milk or bananas. According to the tourists, the prices in the supermarkets are not shockingly low - they spent about 20 euros for their purchases.

"What definitely affects the competitiveness of this country compared to others is, above all, the prices of accommodation. We booked an apartment, but you can also choose a hotel with breakfast by the sea, for as little as 40 euros," explains the Pole.

It is worth remembering that in Albania we will pay in euros, especially in tourist places, hotels and restaurants, although the official currency is the Albanian lek.

Poles are not uncritical

The Poles say at the beginning of their film that they understand people who prefer to avoid Albania and that they also see the country's shortcomings.

"It's nice by the first coastline, beautiful pubs, everything is well-kept and you can fall in love, but go a little way from the city center and it becomes ugly, dirty and chaotic," explains the Pole.

They note that for some, low prices may not be enough to decide on such a vacation. The couple makes it clear that our impressions will depend on the place we end up in – choosing the right hotel or city is important.

According to Poles, it is not worth using ATMs there, for example – the commission is as much as 8 euros. Parking can also be problematic.

Poles also emphasize that although it is cheap there now, this may change over time. They cite the rising prices for tourists in Turkey and Croatia as examples. "Let's enjoy Albania while we can still have a peaceful time," the Pole comments.
