Aveiro Cup is much more than a tournament

Aveiro Cup is much more than a tournament
Sharing new experiences and contact with people and clubs is, for teams, as important or even more important than sporting participation.

In the 30th edition of the Aveiro Cup, many teams are returning to the competition and some are making their debut. Sporting ambitions are being created and others are being renewed, but all with the main focus on having a good time in Aveiro, getting to know the city and facing teams that, normally, would not have the chance to do so. From Madeira, Marítimo is once again present, with its under-12 team. For Pedro Brito, coach, the information gathered about the Aveiro Cup “was fundamental” in registering the age group he coaches for the event. “The decision was easy, based on the recommendations we received. We hope that the tournament will be a good experience for the kids, that they will get to know new teams, new people, new fields and a different city. That is always the most important thing.”

From the Azores and named after a great Portuguese footballer, Associação Clube Futebol Pauleta is participating in the tournament with a team in the under-15 category. Paulo Pacheco, technical manager, admits that he received “good recommendations”, both in terms of “logistics and organisation, as well as the city of Aveiro”. Sporting participation “is important”, but not as much as “sharing new experiences and contact with people and clubs”, giving a “new perspective to all athletes”.
