Brazilian DJ arrested in Portugal recounts terror in prison and days in solitary confinement

We had ads like any other company: looking for tantric masseuses, and for those who didn't know how to do tantric massage, we gave training (...) Our intention was not to sell prostitution. DJ Beka

Arrested on April 1st of this year, she said she didn't know why she was being taken by the police when she was approached. "They took me out of the parking lot, opened the hood of the car, and there were the police weapons and documents with my photos. They took my phone, detained me, so that later, with the help of justice, I could truly understand what I was being accused of."

Everyone can tell a story, but proving a story... I had a mother who grew up exploited, I would never have the courage to exploit a woman. DJ Beka

Beka was detained for 106 days and is now free in the case, which remains under seal. During her time in prison, the Brazilian says she spent days in solitary confinement and witnessed horrific scenes, including mutilated people. She was held at the Tires prison, a maximum-security facility with a capacity of 663 inmates.

They were difficult days of adaptation, days of acceptance. They were four days in solitary confinement, and I think that a person who goes through solitary confinement should have at least been judged beforehand. DJ Beka

She said she understood why prison is known as "hell" in Portugal. "Fights over trivial things, seeing someone all cut up and bruised."
