Civic Movement for the Beira Alta Line demands the full reopening of the Beira Alta Line

Several citizens and associations from the region will organize a rally at Nelas railway station on August 3rd at 2:00 p.m. to demand the full reopening of the Beira Alta Line. The initiative, which coincides with the 143rd anniversary of the historic railway infrastructure, is under the slogan "Beira Alta on the Line, Now!"
For more than three years, the population and businesses of the Beira Alta region have been deprived of a rail service that is essential to the development of this region, impacting mobility, access to essential services (health, education, justice, etc.), quality of life, tourism, and also causing economic and social losses for the population that lives and works here and for the small and medium-sized businesses that have set up shop here, in addition to the environmental impact that has been worsened by the diversion of passengers and goods to the highway.
The successive postponements of the reopening of the Beira Alta Line have had a profound impact on the central interior region, an area already marked by isolation and an aging population, worsening the retention of new residents and the attraction of investment.
This collective and non-partisan action is promoted by the Civic Movement for the Beira Alta Line, driven by several associations and institutions in the region, joined by several citizens residing or working in this region, who prepared a document - Manifesto for the Beira Alta Line and which they will send to the President of the Republic, Assembly of the Republic, Minister of Infrastructure, Miguel Pinto Luz, Deputies elected by the electoral districts of Guarda , Viseu and Coimbra, Infrastructures of Portugal and other interested parties.
