Cleanwatts participates in Panasonic’s international acceleration program in Japan

Cleanwatts, a Portuguese company that is a reference in the digitalization of energy, has been invited to participate in the international acceleration program “Panasonic Accelerator by Electric Works Company”.
This program, promoted by Panasonic in collaboration with ReGACY Innovation Group KK, aims to boost the creation of new companies through collaboration with advanced technologies and the expertise of startups.
Cleanwatts’ project, titled “Co-creating the future of sustainable local energy communities through AI-based energy management,” aims to optimize energy management across commercial buildings, residential buildings and small businesses using Cleanwatts OS technology.
This advanced local optimization system helps stabilize the grid and maximize savings for community members by intelligently managing energy flows and balancing local supply and demand.
This approach not only reduces pressure on the electricity grid, but also allows participants to benefit from lower energy costs through shared resources and optimized consumption habits.
Luísa Matos, CEO of Cleanwatts, said: “Panasonic’s trust in Cleanwatts’ software is a recognition of our technological innovation. Developing a project of this scale with an influential company in Japan is an opportunity to implement our Energy Communities model in a market with enormous potential, promoting grid resilience and energy stability in the country.”
The “Panasonic Accelerator by Electric Works Company” program is designed to foster collaboration between Panasonic and innovative startups, creating pioneering solutions that aim to improve “kurashi” infrastructure, a Japanese term meaning “lifestyle.”
This new collaboration will address long-term strategic challenges and builds on Cleanwatts’ presence in Japan, strengthened by its partnership with Macnica, a prominent Japanese technology company that distributes Cleanwatts’ Kisense energy management platform in the Japanese market.
The project was made possible through Plug and Play Japan’s open innovation platform, which also supported Cleanwatts in evaluating commercial considerations and accelerating the project’s applicability in the market, in addition to commercial development.
