Coimbra: Railway accident leaves one dead in Casais do Campo

A train accident resulted in one fatality this morning in the town of Casais do Campo, in Coimbra.

As far as can be determined, it is a man, around 50 years old.

According to a source from the Coimbra Sub-Regional Emergency and Civil Protection Command, “the alert was given at 11:30 am, for a railway accident in Casais do Campo”.

“There is a fatality to mourn,” adds the same source.

At the scene, there are members of the Coimbra Firefighters and Volunteers, the PSP (Public Security Police), the National Emergency Service (INEM), and the Infrastructures of Portugal (Infraestruturas de Portugal), with a total of 21 personnel and eight vehicles. The alert was raised at 11:30 AM.
