Fortnite creator reaches deal with Samsung

Fortnite creator Epic Games has announced that it has reached a settlement with Samsung, thus ending the legal complaint filed in September last year. Epic, it should be noted, accuses Samsung of collaborating with Google to block access and use of rival app stores on the brand's phones.
“We are dropping our court case against Samsung after discussions between the parties. We are pleased that Samsung will address our concerns,” Epic CEO Tim Sweeny wrote on X. A spokesperson for the company declined to comment further, while Samsung and Google did not respond to Tech Crunch ’s requests for comment.
Epic highlighted in its complaint that the Auto Blocker feature, which prevents downloads outside of the Google Play Store and Samsung Galaxy Store, constituted a concerted effort to block competition in app distribution.
At the time the lawsuit was filed, both Google and Samsung planned to fight Epic’s “baseless allegations.” Now, nearly a year after Epic launched its own app store to distribute its own and third-party games, the case against Samsung has come to an end.
