Horácio Antunes “committed and happy” for new task at FPF

The decision by Joaquim Evangelista, president of the Players' Union (SJPF), not to take office due to the position he holds in FIFPRO, which, if he left, would mean that Portugal would not have representation in the body, allowed the former Civil Governor of Coimbra to take office as vice-president of the winning list in the FPF elections, which is headed by Pedro Proença, who was sworn in yesterday.
Horácio Antunes “signed the sheet” and, for the first time in his many years in sports management, he has taken on a position in the institution that oversees the king of sports in Portugal. “It makes me happy and I am committed to continuing the great work of bringing the Federation and the district associations together, which is something we want to continue to improve and grow. As the first permanent member, it didn’t seem logical to me not to be taking up the position. Everything happened very quickly, but we realised, at AFC, that we had all the tools to make this possible”, said the former mayor of Lousã.
The AFC is, in the view of the new FPF “vice-president”, in “good hands”. “There are some members who have been on the Board for a long time and everything is in place for the Association to continue the great work it has done”, stated Horácio Antunes, stating that João Miguel Henriques “will have all the services and a good team to help him in the new task he will soon take on”, he confirmed. The “construction of the AFC Academy” and the “organisation of the Lopes da Silva Tournament” are, for Horácio, the institution’s major tasks in the short, medium and long term, recalling the “significant increase in teams” and the fact that the AFC has “10 thousand federated athletes” as good recent achievements of the Board he led.
