Hugo Souza issues warning after narrow classification: 'We must not be our own villains'

Corinthians suffered, but advanced to the next preliminary phase of the Copa Libertadores. On Wednesday night (26), Timão beat Universidad Central, from Venezuela, 3-2, with a lot of pressure on the scoreboard and a saving goal in the final stretch of the match. Something that did not go unnoticed by Hugo Souza.
Even with the qualification, the goalkeeper did not fail to point out the black and white mistakes in the match. The goalkeeper, who made a mistake in the second Venezuelan goal, admitted his guilt and also highlighted that the team was unable to control the game.
"We made our lives a little difficult, largely through our own fault. I take my blame, we have to minimize the momentum. We have to know how to balance actions and desires. We were unable to control the game, we needed to have more possession of the ball. We failed in that, we qualified," he highlighted.
For Hugo, the classification reflected the club's personality. However, he stressed that the team itself complicated the match and also recalled that the mistakes that occurred in the Libertadores cannot appear in the Campeonato Paulista games.
"A victory that was typical of Corinthians, a goal at the end, we're going to have to fight hard to avoid being our own villains. We have to work on that, congratulate the team for qualifying. We have the decisive phase of the Paulista ahead of us and we can't make any more mistakes," he highlighted.
