Jorge Costa, Porto legend and former Académica coach, has passed away.

Jorge Costa, a historic figure at FC Porto, the club where he was currently the director of football, and former coach of Académica/OAF, passed away early this afternoon at the age of 53.

The former player, who led the Dragons to numerous titles as team captain, including eight national championships, a Champions League, and a Europa League/UEFA Cup, suffered cardiorespiratory arrest at Olival, the club's training center. His death was confirmed by São João Hospital.

As a coach, Jorge Costa led Académica in the 2010/2011 season, having achieved seven wins in 18 matches.
