Man arrested for sexually abusing 9-year-old daughter

The Judicial Police (PJ), through the Lisbon and Tagus Valley Directorate, arrested today, in Loures, a 45-year-old man, suspected of committing crimes of aggravated sexual abuse of children and a crime of aggravated coercion, in attempted form, with the victim being a 9-year-old girl, his daughter.

The events began in 2022, abroad and continued for almost three years, now in Portugal, in various parts of the country.

After suffering repeated abuse, the victim ended up revealing what had happened to her mother, who promptly went to the police station, with the PJ being activated early yesterday evening.

Investigators from this Police Department immediately went to the scene and carried out the necessary investigative steps to collect evidence that led to the arrest of the defendant.

The procedures for referring the victim and family members for psychological and legal support have already been formalized with the competent entity.

The detainee was brought before the Court of Loures, to undergo the first judicial interrogation and application of coercive measures, and was placed in preventive detention.
