NESD UAlg highlights Aguiar-Branco's visit as a sign of priority for the Algarve

The Social Democratic Student Group of the University of Algarve (NESD UAlg) welcomed the visit of the President of the Assembly of the Republic, José Pedro Aguiar-Branco, to the institution, as part of the “Parlamento Próximo” initiative.
According to the press release, this visit “is filled with enormous political and institutional symbolism”, representing the “recognition that the Algarve is not just part of the national territory — it is a national priority”.
NESD UAlg stresses that the presence of the nation’s second highest magistrate at the university confirms that interiority and territorial cohesion “cannot be just words — they must be real, visible and permanent commitments”.
“For this government, the Algarve is not just a landscape — it is potential, it is talent, it is the future”, reinforces the group.
The same note highlights that the University of Algarve is “a true engine of knowledge, innovation and social cohesion” and that its appreciation “is a national cause”.
NESD UAlg is proud to host the visit “at a time when the country’s direction is being discussed” and guarantees: “The Algarve is not asleep — it is attentive, demanding and ready to be an active part of the solution.”
“Because being present means governing responsibly. And listening to the Algarve means respecting Portugal — even when it bothers those who prefer the comfort of distance,” the statement concludes.
