Professora Piedade Matoso Elementary School in Aljezur will be refurbished

The Aljezur City Council and the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation signed, on Friday, July 4, in Lisbon, a protocol that ensures the requalification of the Integrated Basic School with Kindergarten – Headquarters of the Professora Piedade Matoso Group, in Aljezur.

The intervention, which represents an investment of 200,100 euros, will cover several structural improvements to the school building, namely the repair of the playing field, correction of cracks, expansion joints and painting of the buildings.

The protocol was formalized with the signature of José Gonçalves, president of the Aljezur Municipal Council, and Fernando Alexandre, Minister of Education, Science and Innovation.

This work at the Basic School, identified as necessary since 2019, only now meets the conditions to move forward, allowing for a significant improvement in the physical and safety conditions of the school, benefiting the entire educational community.

The operation is part of a national programme for the urgent rehabilitation and conservation of 28 schools, promoted by the government, which represents a global investment of 6 million euros.

The municipality of Aljezur “congratulates itself on this achievement, underlining its commitment to improving educational infrastructure and the well-being of students, teachers and staff”, it points out.
