The 1st edition of PROVE Vinho & Queijo will showcase, until tomorrow, “flavors that tell stories”. The event, which opened late yesterday afternoon in the cloisters of the Convento de São Francisco, in Coimbra, offers the opportunity to taste the best that is produced in the four regions represented: from wines, originating in the Bairrada, Beira Interior and Dão regions, to cheeses, all with the seal of approval of the three PDOs of Central Portugal: Beira Baixa, Rabaçal and Serra da Estrela. In the opening session, all institutional representatives (from Turismo Centro de Portugal, CIM or local authorities) reinforced the unifying character and the ability to work in a network to enhance the wine and food heritage of PROVE Vinho & Queijo.
The initiative is the result of joint work by six intermunicipal communities – from the Coimbra Region; Viseu Dão Lafões; Beiras and Serra da Estrela Region; Beira Baixa; Leiria Region and Aveiro Region – and two Economic Enhancement Programmes for Endogenous Resources (PROVERE) – from the Cheeses of Central Portugal (under the leadership of Inovcluster) and the Wine Sector of the Central Wine Regions / Convicentro Consortium (under the leadership of the Bairrada Wine Commission).
