Teenager identified as suspected assassin of mayor in Mexico.

The Attorney General's Office of Michoacán, in Mexico, identified this Thursday (6) a 17-year-old as the alleged perpetrator of the murder of the mayor of Uruapan, Carlos Manzo, which occurred on Saturday night (1st), during a Candle Festival.
"This is Víctor Manuel Ubaldo Vidales, 17 years old, born and residing in the municipality of Paracho," informed Carlos Torres Piña, Attorney General of Michoacán, in a video published on Facebook.
Ubaldo Vidales was killed moments later, at the same location as the attack on Manzo, and a firearm was seized.
The Attorney General explained that a sodium rhodizonate test was performed on the young man, "confirming the hypothesis of his involvement in the crime." This test is used to detect metallic residue from firearm discharges, according to the Mexican Federation of Criminology and Criminalistics.
The alleged killer arrived at the square where the Candle Festival was taking place at around 4 pm local time.
He stayed at a hotel in the area and left to commit the attack. According to authorities, Manzo was hit by seven shots in different parts of his body, the fatal shot being to his chest, near his abdomen.
The body of the teenager was released to the family after identification, the prosecutor added.
As the investigation progressed, authorities determined that more than two people participated in Manzo's murder and that the homicide is linked to organized crime groups, Torres Piña stated.
The Attorney General's Office of Michoacán did not provide further details about other individuals involved and indicated that the investigation continues in coordination with state and federal authorities.
