Telmo Pinto leads the PS candidacy for Loulé City Council

On July 25, the Loulé Socialist Party (PS) officially presented its candidates for the 2025 local elections, confirming Telmo Pinto , current president of the Quarteira Parish Council, as the lead candidate for the Municipal Council. The event, held in Loulé Municipal Park, brought together hundreds of people and marked the launch of the campaign under the slogan "New Energy."

In the presentation, the president of the Municipal Political Commission and current mayor, Vítor Aleixo, highlighted the work carried out over the last 12 years and stated that Telmo Pinto is “the right person to lead the municipality’s destiny” in the next municipal cycle.

"I am absolutely convinced that Telmo Pinto, leading an excellent team of councilors, will all work together to continue the good work for Loulé and, above all, for the people," said Vítor Aleixo in his speech.

On the occasion, the candidates for the parish councils were also presented: Alberto Pinto (Almancil), António Martins (Alte), Vítor Gregório (Benafim), Nelson Brazão (Boliqueime), João Romão (Quarteira), Vítor Martins (Querença), Sónia Custodio (Salir), Joaquim Viegas (São Clemente), Analídio Ponte (São Sebastião) and André Pedro (Tôr).

For the Municipal Assembly, the PS is once again betting on Carlos Silva Gomes, current president of the Municipal Assembly of Loulé since 2021, a retired GNR soldier and postgraduate in Security and Criminal Investigation.

The effective list of candidates for the City Council is made up of Telmo Pinto, Paulo Jorge das Neves Candeias Ferreira Trindade, Maria Esteves Ferreira Lourenço, David Jorge Costa Pimentel, Carla Isabel Santos de Sousa, Vasco Ricardo Fangueiro Sao-Payo Cary, Neuza Gavaia, Telma Santos and Carlos Filipe de Sousa.

At the same meeting of the Municipal Political Commission, the list of substitutes for the Municipal Council was approved, consisting of José Adelino Cavaco Nascimento, Rita Martins da Silva Figueiredo, Luís Miguel Cabrita Coelho, Marisa da Piedade Tomás and José Miguel Almeida Monteiro.

The PS candidate for mayor of Loulé, Telmo Pinto, began his speech by thanking the hundreds of people who filled the venue prepared for this presentation.

Telmo Pinto also addressed the candidates for parish council president, stating that "They are undoubtedly the true local politicians. I have no doubt that if the politicians of this country had served as parish council leaders, everything would be different."

"Responding to people's needs. Ensuring that the future of families in this municipality is not a mystery in housing, education, social support, healthcare, safety, sports, culture, or water management—mentioning some of the main areas we're committed to working on with Nova Energia. We will work to ensure our territory functions as a single entity, with the territorial cohesion we've always desired, from Ameixial to Almancil, from the mountains to the sea," Telmo Pinto said in his speech.

At the end of his speech, he made a commitment: "We will plan, design, and achieve great things for our municipality. We will meet the needs of those who live here and those who choose to live here. I am grateful to have served the public sector for 12 years on the Quarteira Parish Council, and now I am ready for another 12 years as Mayor of Loulé. Loulé deserves a New Energy; you can count on us, and we can count on all of you. Long live Loulé!"
