The Town 2025 kicks off with Travis Scott, Brazilian trap, and Lauryn Hill's historic repertoire

As at Rock in Rio, American Travis Scott will be the night's main attraction. The most influential figure in this rap subgenre, he's known for his intense shows , featuring psychedelic beats, pyrotechnics, an engaged audience, and the song "Fein" appearing several times in the setlist.

Another trap artist, American Don Toliver, will perform immediately beforehand. He's associated with Travis's label, Cactus Jack Records, so there's a good chance they'll be on stage together.

The first day's lineup is also full of Brazilian trap names: Filipe Ret, Matuê , MC Cabelinho, Wiu, Teto and the duo Tasha & Tracie are expected to attract a very young audience -- in recent years, this style of music has won over generation Z (those born after 1995).

Running counter to anthems from other generations, Lauryn Hill will perform hits from "The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill" (1998), an album that sold over 20 million copies, won five Grammys, and was even named the best album of all time by Apple Music . Her repertoire is a mix of rap, R&B, reggae, soul, blues, funk, and dancehall. She will be joined on stage by her sons, YG Marley and Zion Marley.

With five days of programming, The Town will continue this Sunday (7), with shows by Green Day, Bruce Dickinson, Iggy Pop and more rock names. Starting next Friday (12), the second weekend of the event will have performances by Backstreet Boys, Luísa Sonza, Mariah Carey, Ivete Sangalo, Katy Perry, Ludmilla, among other artists.
