Valpaços is the national champion of the 3rd Futsal Division

Valpaços is the national champion of the 3rd Futsal Division

The Transmontanos team was stronger and won 5-3, winning the National Futsal Championship of the III Division.

The match was played at the Valpaços Sports Pavilion, and it was the visiting team that opened the scoring in the 11th minute, but shortly after Sousinha equalized, and in the following minute Pina put the Reguilas Tires back in front. In the 24th minute Pauleta scored, and in the space of three minutes he scored twice. José Costa increased the lead to 4-2. And even with Ilídio Pina scoring the third goal for the Tires team and his second of the match, victory did not escape the Valpaços team who still extended the advantage through Pisco.

For the club, “the most beautiful page in its history” was written. “It was years, months of work, struggle, sacrifice and overcoming. But above all, it was the unity of this team, this club and this city that brought us here”, says Valpaços FC in a statement, which believes that this Saturday they made “history”.

Stressing that they were not alone, they thanked “the incredible crowd that filled the Valpaços Sports Pavilion”. “You were our 6th player, our extra strength, the soul that pushed us until the final whistle. You believed, you were always there. This title is also yours”, they added.

Valpaços Futsal had already secured promotion to the 2nd National Division and guaranteed participation in the Champion Qualification phase after winning the North series, in which it faced the winners of the central (Viseu 2001) and South (AD Reguilas de Tires) series.

The Municipality of Valpaços “warmly congratulated Valpaços FC on winning the title”, “an unprecedented and historic achievement for the club and the entire municipality”.

The triumph is, adds the local authority, “the reflection of the hard work, dedication and team spirit of all the athletes, technical team, management and other club employees and fans, who dignified the name of Valpaços with determination and pride throughout the competition”, adds the executive, who “recognizes the sporting and social value of this achievement, which inspires our young people and elevates local sport to a new level”.

The Vila Real Football Association (AFVR) also congratulated the “athletes, technical team, directors and other members of the club, for the achievement achieved”.
