Bira, President, founder of Cacique de Ramos and Fundo de Quintal, dies

Samba singer Bira Presidente, founder of the Cacique de Ramos group and the Fundo de Quintal group, died on Saturday night, the 14th, at the age of 88, in Rio de Janeiro. The artist died at 11:55 pm at the Unimed Barra Hospital, victim of complications from prostate cancer.
The information was released through a joint note published on the social media of Cacique de Ramos and Fundo de Quintal. Ubirajara Félix do Nascimento also suffered from Alzheimer's disease.
“His work at Cacique de Ramos shaped the bloco and samba, Doce Refúgio became a cultural reference space. At Fundo de Quintal, he was the starting point for a language that redefined the samba circle and inspired generations,” the note says.
