CALEMA livens up Tavira City Day

CALEMA livens up Tavira City Day

The celebrations include, at 10:30 am, the raising of the flags, at the Town Hall, followed by the solemn session, at 11 am, at the Álvaro de Campos Municipal Library.

The ceremony includes the distinction of 07 employees with silver-grade medals for good service and dedication (30 years of service) and 16 employees with copper-grade medals for good service and dedication (20 years of service).

The local authority also pays tribute by awarding a gold (three), silver (six) and copper (six) municipal merit medal to citizens and local entities who have distinguished themselves in society through their careers.

Calema will mark the high point of the celebrations with a concert on the 24th, at 10 pm, at Campos da Feira/Mercado Mensal (next to the Municipal Swimming Pools).

The change in location, initially planned, was motivated by the negative opinion issued by the ICNF , since the first location considered is located in the Ria Formosa Special Protection Zone, located next to a salt marsh area.

Taking into account the high number of visitors expected, potential negative impacts on the natural habitats present there were identified.

This decision aims to ensure not only a more comfortable and safe experience for all participants, but also compliance with the environmental safeguarding principles that guide the municipality's actions.

The Coreto Garden will once again be the stage for the festivals promoted by the Tavira City Council, always at 9:30 pm, with the following program: Valter & Canário and Rancho Folclórico de Tavira (day 20); Grupo Gerações (day 21); Nelson Santos (day 22); Silvino Campos (day 28) and Hélder Reis (day 29).

In addition to the Coreto Garden, various festivals are taking place throughout the municipality, in a festive atmosphere, which promise to brighten up the first nights of summer.

Also on the night of São João, the Legend of the Enchanted Moorish Woman will be performed at Tavira Castle at 10:30 pm by Armação do Artista, followed by the pyromusical show at 11:59 pm on the Ponte dos Descobrimentos to welcome the City Day (June 24).

Later, at 6:00 am, the “Nascer do Sol” walk takes place, an initiative of the municipality of Tavira, promoted by the Casa do Povo de Santo Estêvão.

In June, the Popular Saints and the City Day are celebrated. It is the time for basil, festivals, festivals, decorated streets, jumping over bonfires and eating grilled sardines.
