Cinemas lost a third of viewers in July compared to the same period in 2024

In July, Portuguese cinemas had 1.1 million spectators, more than the million registered in the previous month, but a third less than the 1.7 million in July last year.
In terms of revenue, July totaled 7.3 million euros, a drop of 31.6% compared to July last year, when it stood at 10.7 million euros.
Even so, in the year to date, there are increases compared to 2024, both in terms of spectators (2.8%) and revenue (6.7%).
The most-watched films of the month were all North American productions, with Joseph Kosinski's 'F1' topping the list, also being the sixth most-watched film of the year in Portugal, with a cumulative total of 272,000 viewers since its premiere at the end of June.
The most-watched Portuguese film of the year continues to be 'On Falling', by Laura Carreira, with 13,000 viewers since its premiere in March.
