Culture in the Center Program supports 18 projects in the region

The Regional Coordination and Development Commission of the Center (CCDR Centro) approved support for 85 artistic projects within the scope of the Culture in the Center Program – Support for Cultural Action, whose main objective is to support initiatives developed by non-professional cultural associations based in the center region.
With a financial amount of 114 thousand euros, this program to support cultural action in the region will support, during 2025, projects distributed across four measures: 29 projects in the area of artistic creation and production, 34 programming and dissemination projects, 12 publishing projects and 10 training and capacity building projects. Eighteen of the supported projects belong to institutions in the Aveiro region (see box).
“The Culture in the Center Program reaffirms CCDR Centro’s commitment to strengthening the region’s cultural fabric by supporting projects that value local identity, inclusion and the active participation of communities,” notes Isabel Damasceno, president of the institution. “Non-professional cultural associations,” she adds, “play a vital role in preserving traditions, revitalizing territories and promoting social cohesion. With this support, we aim not only to recognize the value of their work, but also to give them the conditions to grow, innovate and reach more people.”
The Culture at the Center Programme received 129 applications, with a total support amount requested of close to 306 thousand euros, with a high number of applications submitted to the area of programming and dissemination (56 projects), followed by the measure of artistic creation and production (43), publishing (13) and training and qualification (17). Of the total number of applications, it was found that 15 did not meet the eligibility requirements and were therefore ineligible.
The universe of approved applications covers 35 municipalities from the six intermunicipal communities in the territorial area of operation of the CCDR Centro, in various artistic areas, highlighting the inclusion in the projects of practices aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda, a factor of increase in the evaluation of applications.
