Denis Villeneuve to direct next 007 film

Canadian filmmaker Denis Villeneuve will direct the next film in the 007 saga, Amazon MGM Studios announced on Thursday (26).

This will be the director's first work in the world of the iconic British agent James Bond, an original character by writer Ian Fleming who came out of the books and into the cinema.

Villeneuve said he grew up watching 007 films with his father.

"I'm a huge Bond fan. For me it's sacred territory," the Canadian said in a statement from Amazon.

"I intend to honor the tradition and pave the way for many new missions in the future," added the director of "Dune" and "Blade Runner 2049."

It is not yet confirmed who will play 007. The last Bond role was played by actor Daniel Craig in "No Time to Die", released in 2021.
