Gaucho Rafa Rafuagi receives Order of Cultural Merit from the federal government

Last Tuesday (20), Rafa Rafuagi from Rio Grande do Sul was awarded the Order of Cultural Merit, one of the most important honors granted by the federal government to individuals who make significant contributions to Brazilian culture. The honor recognizes the pioneering work of the Museu da Cultura Hip Hop RS, founded and coordinated by Rafuagi, as well as his career of more than two decades dedicated to the hip hop movement in Rio Grande do Sul.
The ceremony was held at the Gustavo Capanema Palace in Rio de Janeiro and was attended by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and the Minister of Culture, Margareth Menezes. Among those honored, Rafa Rafuagi and Bagre Fagundes were the only representatives from Rio Grande do Sul.
With 23 years of experience as a rapper, Rafuagi has won 41 awards and has undertaken a series of cultural initiatives with national impact. In addition to the Rio Grande do Sul Hip Hop Culture Museum, he is also in charge of the Esteio Hip Hop Culture House, the Partiu Aula na Justiça project, and the National Construction of Hip Hop Culture. His work transcends borders, and he also works as a public policy consultant for international organizations.
Rafuagi is also a writer and was the patron of the Gravataí Book Fair, a city where he consolidated part of his career. His recognition with the Order of Cultural Merit reinforces the relevance of hip hop as an artistic, social and political expression in Brazil, and celebrates the leading role of the gaucho movement in the national and Latin American scene.
