Italian Christian Leotta proposes Beethoven's evolution in Rio

Italian pianist Christian Leotta, considered one of Beethoven's greatest interpreters, will perform at Sala Cecília Meireles in Rio de Janeiro on July 1st. The concert offers a journey through the evolution of Beethoven's piano sonata and is organized by the Italian Institute of Culture in Rio de Janeiro.
The concert begins with the piano sonata L14 in C major (WoO 51, from the Kinsky-Halm catalogue), published posthumously in 1830, in which Leotta emphasizes the original use of the arpeggio as a structural element. Next comes the piano sonata L26 in C major, op. 53, the famous Waldstein, written between 1803 and 1804. From this point on, everything changes, with the piano expanding into new sonic dimensions.
Finally, the program includes the piano sonata L39 in C minor, op. 111, the last of the cycle, composed between 1821 and 1822, two movements that encompass an expressive universe.
