Italy is a 'must-see destination' for the European summer, says media

Italy was cited as an unmissable summer destination in the northern hemisphere by The New York Times, which brought five recommendations, highlighting the regions of Tuscany, Puglia and Lazio.

Forte dei Marmi, in the province of Lucca, Tuscany, is the first recommendation from the American media. Considered a destination for luxury tourism, there is no shortage of haute couture boutiques, Michelin-starred restaurants and other exclusive experiences.

Still in Tuscany, the Colline del Chianti, with its vineyards between Florence, Siena and Arezzo, are a great option for tasting the famous local wine, Chianti, as well as exploring its itineraries that combine wine, food, culture and history.

Returning to the Tuscan coast, in Porto Ercole there is no shortage of boat trips, diving, outdoor activities, as well as historical attractions, such as the charming city center.

In Puglia, the city of Lecce is a must-see for art and culture lovers. Considered the "Florence of southern Italy", the city boasts a wealth of heritage resulting from the influence of various cultures, including Arab, Byzantine, Norman and Spanish.

Rome, the Italian capital, could not be left out: after all, it is one of the biggest tourist destinations in the world, with a thousand-year-old historical heritage, although the city also offers attractions outside of mass tourism, such as the "Underground Rome" itinerary, which runs through the underground part of the Colosseum, where the gladiators stayed before the competitions in the arena.
