US Vice President JD Vance told military academy graduates on Friday that President Donald Trump will do everything he can to ensure that the Armed Forces are only sent into dangerous situations with clear objectives.
During his commencement address at the US Naval Academy, Vance said that Trump's approach does not mean the government ignores threats , but rather "means that those threats will be addressed with discipline", so that if US troops are sent on a war mission it will be with "a very specific set of objectives in mind".
Vance explained that the options under Trump will be faster military action, giving as an example the bombing that Trump recently ordered against the Houthi rebels in Yemen.
Vance also criticized the Biden administration's attempt to build a pier in Gaza to receive aid in Israel's war against Hamas, which, in his opinion, never worked.
“The Trump administration has changed course. No more open-ended missions. No more endless conflicts,” the vice president said.
Vance served in the US Navy and when he was named Trump's running mate last year, he became the first veteran to appear on a major party presidential ticket since John McCain in 2008.
