Loulé Jazz 2025 opens with Afonso Pais and Daniel Herskedal Trio

Directed by pianist and composer Mário Laginha, the event includes musician Alexandre Frazão, who leads the Quintessência project, and North Americans Kurt Rosenwinkel and Gerald Clayton.
The initiative kicks off on July 25th with concerts by the trio of Norwegian Daniel Herskedal, followed by the Quinteto Afonso Pais, a Portuguese guitarist who will debut a collection of original compositions of his own that will be part of his next album.
The Norwegian will perform for the first time in Portugal, after his concert at last year's edition was cancelled due to weather conditions.
The second day's program opens with Alexandre Frazão, who presents the Quintessência project, defined as a new challenge in a quintet formed by a new generation of multifaceted musicians, followed by the North Americans Kurt Rosenwinkel and Gerald Clayton.
Loulé Jazz closes on July 27th with a concert by Eduardo Cardinho, who will present his latest album, «Not far from paradise», voted best jazz album of the year at the Play awards.
The event is the result of an annual partnership between the Casa da Cultura de Loulé and the Algarve municipality of the Faro district, a collaboration that began in 1995.
According to the organization, ticket holders purchased last year for the Daniel Herskedal Trio concert will be granted free entry to the first day of this year's edition.
The concerts take place at Loulé Castle.
