Loulé showcases paintings by João Moniz in «Plurais do Branco»

The Art Gallery of the Convent of Espírito Santo, in Loulé, is preparing to host the exhibition «Plurais do Branco», by the artist João Moniz, from July 26th to September 13th.
"Plrais do Branco" invites us to immerse ourselves in the duality of white. Initially perceived as absence, white reveals itself in lines and shapes, revealing the texture and "grain" of the paint.
This invitation to gaze deepens as white gives rise to new spaces and an architecture of shapes and colors. It's a play between absence and presence, where each fragmented canvas evokes primitive painting and the utopia of totality in contemporary art.
The essence of João Moniz's art lies in exploring the loss of the figure (as in Plato's myth of the cave) and the utopia of a new figuration. In each work, one finds the search—the foundation of art—tracing the timeless path of painting.
The exhibition «Plurais do Branco» can be visited from Tuesday to Saturday, between 10:00-13:30 and 14:30-18:00.
The inauguration is scheduled for this Friday, July 25th, at 6:00 pm.
