Medieval Market livens up Anadia next weekend

The Anadia Medieval Market will take place next weekend in Lagoa de Torres, in the parish of Vilarinho do Bairro, promising visitors a journey into the past.
Organized by the Municipality of Anadia in partnership with the Parish Council of Vilarinho do Bairro, the event aims to portray the atmosphere experienced during the time of King Dinis, namely the celebration of the 400th anniversary of the canonization of his wife, D. Isabel de Aragão, known as the Holy Queen, through a military camp, historical recreations, street parades, dances, verses and songs, theater plays, exhibition of war artifacts, weapons tournaments and other events.
"The organization's intention is to recreate the historical environment, as a factor in enriching the event itself, promoting and valuing heritage, encouraging artistic creation and the marketing of new products," says a note released by Anadia City Council.
The Medieval Market opens its doors on Friday at 6 pm, followed by the "Opening Ceremony and the respective procession and parade through the streets and squares of the town", and in the evening various entertainment and historical recreations.
On Saturday and Sunday, the event opens at 12:00 p.m., proposing the organization for the afternoon and evening of both days «a vast program of activities, namely Mozarabic dances, dramatizations, dismounted knight training and weapons demonstration, staging, verses and songs, drums, processions, traveling shows and historical recreation, among others».
The venue has a food and drink area, where you can sample "the delicacies and nectars of the season," and visitors will have the opportunity to dress in "period" attire, with clothing available to borrow at the event venue, free of charge.
