Mel Gibson returns to Italy for 'The Passion of the Christ 2'
Actor Mel Gibson was seen walking through Matera, Basilicata, southern Italy, on Tuesday (20). The star's presence in the historic city is due to the sequel to the classic "The Passion of the Christ", whose first scenes should begin to be filmed in the coming months.

Wearing a white cap and sunglasses, Gibson tried to go unnoticed as he walked through the Sassi of Matera, the old part of the city made up of dwellings carved into the rocks and inhabited since the Paleolithic era. However, many recognized the American star who wrote, produced and directed the epic drama about Jesus of Nazareth, which had some of its scenes filmed between 2002 and 2003 on site.
No other details about "The Passion of the Christ 2" have been released.
