Milan mayor highlights 'friendship' between Salgado and the city

Milan Mayor Giuseppe Sala highlighted this Friday (23) the "friendship" between Brazilian photographer Sebastião Salgado, who died today at the age of 81, and the capital of Lombardy, in northern Italy.

"Sebastião Salgado passed away today. I met him recently when he came to Milan to present his exhibition on the Amazon," said Sala, adding that the photographer "was a friend of Milan and loved her deeply."

"He will be missed. He was a man of influence," concluded the Italian mayor.
