Portimão 2034 Strategic Culture Plan enters final phase of development

As part of the Strategic Plan for Culture in Portimão 2034 (PEMC.PORTI2034), the final phase of this collaborative construction project for the municipality's cultural future is currently underway: Collection of contributions as part of the process of constructing Version 0 of the document.

The document presented is the result of a collaborative process, in which 192 measures, 48 ​​objectives, 16 strategic objectives and four strategic axes were defined, with the active participation of several cultural agents in Portimão.

The four strategic axes are Heritage and Public Space; Knowledge, Mediation and Social Cohesion; Creative Economy, Communication and Territorial Projection and Civic Engagement and Cooperation Networks.

It should be remembered that in June 2024, the first public moment of PEMC.PORTI2034 marked the start of an innovative and participatory process, with a broad call addressed to cultural, sporting, economic, academic and political agents, as well as to all citizens interested in contributing to the design of Portimão's cultural policies for the next decade.

Since then, the multidisciplinary team of the Observatory of Science, Communication and Culture Policies (PolObs) of the Centre for Communication and Society Studies of the University of Minho (CECS-UMinho), in collaboration with the Portimão City Council , has been developing a transdisciplinary and participatory diagnosis that resulted in version 0 of PEMCP2034 to identify guidelines for future municipal cultural policies.

New Stage: Contributions from Version 0 of the Plan

Having completed this phase of collaborative work, the municipality of Portimão is now launching a new stage in the process: collecting contributions from the community on version 0 of the Portimão 2034 Strategic Culture Plan.

To this end, an online survey will be available until June 23 on the Portimão City Council website , available here , and version 0 of the Plan will also be available, where all interested parties can read the base document and share their suggestions, views and proposals for improvement.

This phase aims to ensure that the plan is truly representative of the desires and needs of the population of Portimão.

In addition, a public session to present the preliminary version of the plan will be held on June 18th – a session open to the entire community, which will take place at 5:30 pm at TEMPO – Teatro Municipal de Portimão (Small Auditorium).

This session will reveal the main results obtained to date, which involved the involvement and participation of over 1000 stakeholders in the different phases.

The municipality of Portimão reiterates its invitation to all interested citizens to join this initiative and actively participate in shaping the cultural future of the municipality, reaffirming its commitment to a participatory, transversal and inclusive culture.
