The Festivities of Santo António, the City and the Municipality of Estarreja are just around the corner, with a programme being prepared that will run from 6 to 15 June. According to the local authority, it is an invitation to the community to “go out onto the streets and celebrate the memories, traditions, customs and pride of being from Estarreja”.

The programme is “diverse” and completely free, with highlights including the Bandas em Festa (6th), the Mercado Antigo (6th to 8th), the Desfile Etnográfico (8th), the Marchas Populares (12th) and the taverns. This year, the main concerts (10.30pm) are by DAMA (13th), Delfins (14th) and Para Sempre Marco (15th). The festivities take place at various points in the city, with the central points being Praça Francisco Barbosa (6th to 8th) and Parque Municipal do Antuã (12th to 15th).

The Old Market will be open with a total of 84 stallholders selling food and drink, meats and sausages, fruit and vegetables, bread, lupins, sweets, plants, organic produce, crafts and crockery and antiques. You can also try Estarrico, a sweet made from Estarreja rice created by chef Luca Arguelles.
