Seven arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking and theft

The National Republican Guard (GNR) arrested seven people for alleged drug trafficking and theft in the municipalities of Bragança, Alfândega da Fé and Vila Flor, it was announced this Thursday.
In a statement, the GNR said that the six men and one woman, aged between 27 and 68, were arrested on Wednesday .
The investigation, according to authorities, had been ongoing for about a year, “with the aim of putting an end to the suspects’ illicit activity.”
The military carried out seven arrest warrants and 15 search warrants , five at home, nine in vehicles and one in a workshop, the Guard described.
The vehicles were seized, as well as around 100 individual doses of heroin, cocaine and hashish, seven cell phones, 1,438 euros in cash, 69 rounds of ammunition of various calibers, a slow-release drawstring bag for explosives and various materials used to package narcotics.
A GNR source told Lusa that the detainees will be presented at 10:00 am on Friday at the Vila Flor Judicial Court .
The action was reinforced by various areas of the Bragança Territorial Command, Criminal Investigation teams from the Guarda Territorial Command and the Vila Real Territorial Command, canine resources from the Viseu Territorial Command and the Mirandela Emergency, Protection and Relief Unit team.
