Jazz in August runs until the 10th and features 13 more concerts, which will be divided between the Open-Air Amphitheater, the Grand Auditorium and Auditorium 2 of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.
This Friday, William Parker, Cooper-More and Hamid Drake present "music for sunrise and sunset, music for everyday life, tuned to a cure for any ailments (more spiritual than physical) through sound", according to them, quoted on the Gulbenkian website.
In Heart Trio, the three musicians, "longtime accomplices and since 2012 reunited in the quartet In Order to Survive", explore "a connection to ancestral African and Eastern music, adopting instruments such as the ngoni, the shakuhachi, the duduk or instruments created by themselves, generating mesmerizing music with an intense connection to the land".
