Wagner Moura wins best actor award at Cannes for “The Secret Agent”

Wagner Moura wins best actor award at Cannes for “The Secret Agent”

Brazilian Wagner Moura won the award for best male performance at the 78th Cannes Film Festival this Saturday 24th for “The Secret Agent”, a film by Kleber Mendonça Filho.

The director received the award, presented by Spanish Rossy de Palma, on behalf of the actor.

“He is a great actor and I hope that 'The Secret Agent' brings him many good things,” declared Mendonça Filho.

In the film, Moura plays a teacher who returns to Recife to find his son, unaware that his past, in which he faced corruption, will put him in danger.

“The character I play just wants to live with the values that represent him. It’s terrible that, in dystopian times, remaining faithful to your values of dignity is dangerous,” Moura said a few days ago in Cannes.
